Food was amazing, staff was very nice, it was an overall great experience worth every penny! I would have gave 5/5 stars if I would have got seated where I had wanted because I called and told them I wanted to reserve a table, I asked for a better view of the sunset And i called a week in advance and asked if I would have a view of the sunset because I was going to propose at sunset. So we got sat the farthest possible seat away, it is an L shaped patio, one side is a complete view of the sunset, one side has a row of tables that are in a line directly into the sunset view. We were sat at the end of that row.
The food was delicious and I would recommend this as a must see in San Diego, if you want the sunset view you've got to be pretty forceful with it I guess.
Came here during brunch for a friend and had a great time.
Atmosphere - Wences is in a tiny pavilion of some sorts with limited parking and one way parking ways. The inside was very clean, but also a bit dark. I believe this had to do with the dark color theme they were going for, but still sunlight was able to shine through. There were many booths along the side and lots of open tables in the middle. It almost looks like a club at night.
Food - At the time, I was looking for something that was light, heavy, and healthy. That's why I went with the Wences Omelet (pictured). The flavors were there and everything tasted right. I even got a side of hollandaise sauce. SO GOOD! And it accomplished what I wanted it to. Not too heavy, and just right.
Service - Our server was phenomenal! We were a party of 14+ and she delivered on all of our needs. Sometimes, she was missing for a very long time though, but other than that she did great!
Awesome brunch place and would definitely recommend this place to others.
Dungeness Crab. That's all you need to know.
If you're a seafood fanatic like me, then I would highly recommend the Dungeness Crab omelet. The crab meat didn't have a crabby/fishy smell or taste to it and it complemented the eggs and avocado well. The portion was fairly filling especially with a side of house potatoes.
This spot is pretty spacious with plenty of parking in the lot outside. I came in for Sunday brunch and there were still plenty of tables available.
San Francisco CA
Wow, this place caught me by surprise. I was visiting a friend in SF and had lunch here before I headed back to LA. From all the restaurants I went to in my weekend there by far Wences was the best!
The dollar oysters they offer on sundays and mondays were some of the freshest most flavorful oysters I have ever had and for $1! Unbeatable we had a dozen each. We also got calamari which were perfectly fried and served with a vinegar base sauce.
The grilled octopus was perfectly cooked and the poblano sauce paired so well. We also got a grilled chicken burger that came with bacon avocado and spring greens. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food, this restaurant competes with some high end restaurant that charge ×3 more here in LA. The flavors in their food is amazing and the oysters were literally a steal!
Los Angeles CA
My god...This might be my new breakfast spot...
Me and my girlfriend came here randomly last Saturday and boy was that a treat. I didn't even know that shopping center existed. I'm usually never on this side of Pleasant Hill. That being the case we walked in and I was super impressed with the decor. Two big screen TVs at the bar is never a bad thing haha.
We decided to sit at the bar since the wait time was 10-15 mins and we were trying to make a movie after brunch. I already knew for the most part what I wanted. When I saw that they had a Lobster Benedict, I was already halfway out the door of my house. I'm happy to say that it was everything I never thought I wanted that morning. Both eggs were cooked perfectly and the the Hollandaise sauce had a good flavor. Our bartender however gave us the suggestion that we should try the Chipotle Hollandaise sauce. Best suggestion I had that day. It's super flavorful. It's the one that usually comes on the Filet Mignon Benedict. Ugh that one was good too though...Above all, it comes with super soft and flavorful country potatoes. Such an amazing meal overall. Oh yea. I also had a Bellini. It had a very nice balance of peach flavor with the wine.
I need to come back. I j-just really need to back. I need to know that this wasn't a fluke or something. Everything I ate that morning just seemed too good to be true..
We've been coming to Wences for a few years. We've had dinner there and many, many, many Happy Hour. The food is always amazing and delishes. When my 50th birthday approached, I had no hesitation to have it at Wences.
I booked a party of 13 people for dinner. Food and Service was top notch. Our server, Edgar kept the drinks flowing. Sandra, the manager, was pleasant to work with too. Thank you Wences for making our evening memorable.
San Ramon CA
The food and atmosphere were both amazing! The staff was very attentive as well. I've only been living in the area for a few months and stumbled across Wence's while trying to find a place for dinner. I will be going back and I recommend it to anyone else looking for a place to eat.
Love this place. Great for family dinners, casual date night, happy hour or brunch with the girls. The Chilean sea bass is definitely my go-to. So good. The last time we were there the shrimp was a little rubbery & the steak over cooked. But, in their defense it was slammed. There wasn’t an empty seat in the house.
Pleasant Hill CA
I had the lobster taco's served in corn tortilla with a grilled pepper, pickled red onions, house made pico de gallo and sweet potato fries ( which my lovely Cathy raves about) The lobster portion was generous and tender!!!
Pleasant Hill CA
Ordered shoestring fries, truffle lobster mac & cheese, fish & chips, mac & cheese with for kids, beignets and vanilla gelato. Notable were fries, crispy and perfectly seasoned. Husband thoroughly enjoyed his fish & chips. I was in heaven with my truffle lobster mac & cheese, decadent with delicious and generous chunks of lobster throughout.
The kids' mac with bacon, would have preferred the bacon crispy and sprinkled on top rather than mixed in, which made it rubbery and more oily. The beignets were heavenly, melted in your mouth. The side dip was like a raspberry apple sauce. A raspberry coulis and chocolate sauce might be better. Please don't don't ever ever ever change your lobster mac recipe.
We will definitely be back. My Mother's Day was great because of you. Thanks!
This place is amazing everything we tried was wonderful. Found this place by accident but such a wonderful find!
When we arrived the place was busy but the service was nice the staff very friendly. We started with the house champagne which was great it was Happy hour so we ordered off the happy hour menu. We ordered the grilled artichoke hearts, One set of street tacos fish another set beef and to top it all off we ordered the truffle garlic fries out of this world! The price was extremely reasonable and well worth it!
Everything was wonderful that now we'll make a point of coming back for dinner next time but definitely happy hour!
Outstanding combinations of great wines and freshly made food. Love the seafood selection too.
